Someone Made a Funny!

Late night Movies

I have just finished watching I am Legend, thanks to Richard, showing me surfthechannel.com. Honestly, one of the best films I have seen in along time, and to be honest, really had made me think. The storyline is fast, and the film is riddled with Hitchcock style thrills. Wonderfull. For those that don't know

Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague -- The Infected -- lurk in the shadows... watching Neville's every move... waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind's last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered... and quickly running out of time.

Honestly people, go see this film.

New Year, New Blog, New Me

Welcome to my new place on the web, I've moved away from the Nobodys listening domain, just too much hassle!

For those that don't know me, Im Adam, a 20 year old student, doing a media course at Coventry Uni. Summing me up in one word.... Wacky.

Im something of a media junki, Ill post a few things from time to time that I like.

Scrachpad: 100MC - Key Concpets

Been working on the essey, for this module, very hard, hard enough for me to sit back and say, "wow", although I did not understand most of the 100MC lecture material, I really do think that It was useful. I will crack on.

100AD: About Me

Cut through the treacle, want to know what this is? Click Here

About Me
Well, I thought I'd tell you about myself, hard for me to do that, as I haven't done that much in my life so far but here goes.

I'm 20, my name is Adam Brown, originally from Wantage, just outside of Oxford. studying Journalism and Media. My main interests include, music; never without my iPod, always got something in my ear; politics, always got something to say, about most things, usually, relevant, and always funny! Of course like most people my age the internet features heavily in my life, I like to be connected to 'teh web where ever I go. I am a active member of St Johns Ambulance, and a Christan.

Why Media?
This not being my first exposure to university life, a previous degree in Computing, again from Coventry, has taught me that I am a strong person, with goals and aspirations, however, as of late, I have found that the world is a lot larger then I first found. If I'm honest I never saw the media to feature heavily in my life, of course I watch TV, and read the paper, but really I did not see myself really being a part of it. Never the less, with views to working on radio, I soldier onward.

Goal's and Aspirations
As per the instructions of the 100AD module, I've put together a few 'plans for life':

Goals for the coming year (2008):

  • I want to achieve at least a 2:1 in my first year
  • I want to find a passion that I enjoy.
  • I want to start my training as a PTA (St John's Ambulance qualification)

At first glance these goals look, not vague, but un-descriptive. However, there are reasons for this, firstly, I really don't know what I want to do with my life, agreed, I want money, a family, and happiest, much like anyone you meet on the street, but in the short term, I really have no idea.

Ideally I would like to work in the radio industry, as I have a passion for playing music. In no way do I want to 'report on radio' or even 'write a report for radio'. I find that journalism is a stressful and focus-less profession, with far to many pit falls to really enjoy the job. Essentially my dream job would be on a commercial station, playing music, thats it, just playing the music, that I love, and interacting with listeners, music brings so much joy to peoples lives, and I would like to foster that. Strange that I am studying 'journalism and media' when I do not want to be a journalist no? I thought so.

For Next 5 Years
  • Find a vocation that I enjoy, and am good at, that I bring a passion to.
  • Earn enough money to buy a house
  • Start a Family.
As stated, commercial radio is were I would like to end up, prefiably a small station, with a active bu small listener ship. Like Jack FM, or Passion. To help myself with this I am a active member of Source Radio, Coventry's Student station, I am gaining knowledge, but I don't really see the station going many places. I would one day like to run the station and change somethings, but perhaps not.

Much like other people in this stage of their life, money is a large consideration, I would like to start a family, and be comfortable, and most of all, making a difference to people's life.

What's This?

I'm using this blog as a place to put all my 100AD stuff, writing's about work, and how I am getting along with it, I will also post reflections on articles I read, films I see and the course in general.
